The Virgin Islands Public Television System recognizes the power of visual stimulation and our potential to make a lasting long-term contribution to our community by broadcasting enriching and entertaining programs. Central to our principles is the inclusion of the children of our community in the representation of their viewing options. We aim to satisfy our mandate by delivering outstanding PBS programs with an emphasis on exceptional cultural programming, and by using multi-media and digital communication services
Recognizing the importance of our role in promoting positive social change and healthy communities, we endeavor to utilize community engagement techniques and collaborative efforts to assist in solving local social problems, particularly amongst school age children. We strongly believe that effective use of public television will help to significantly reduce personal, social and economic harm on the Virgin Islands community and to increase an appreciation for the humanities. We currently produce and broadcast several local shows with an effort to reach and include the un-served and underserved. We strongly believe that effective use of public television will help to significantly reduce personal and economic harm brought on this community by mis-educated young people.
At WTJX we firmly believe that there are no limits to the possibilities for excellence. As we grow and make strides to fulfill our mandate, we are moving to increase the educational programming on our airwaves. In September 2005 WTJX Channel 12 plans to be broadcasting from 4 digital channels, one of which will be dedicated completely to Education programs. Although this channel will not be immediately available on the Cable system on St. Croix we will ensure that the basic education programs will be available on Channel 12 and on the Choice Communication system. WTJX TV is available on ICC Cable, Choice and with simple rabbit ear antennae. We are also seen in the US and British Virgin Islands and the eastern part of Puerto Rico .
